Shared Folders

Share a whole folder — everyone added gets access to everything inside.

Members vs. collaborators

cDox has two distinct ways to share your work. You add collaborators to a specific page or sheet (see the Collaboration section). You add members to an entire folder.

A folder member has access to everything inside that folder, including pages and sheets added later, without being invited to each one individually. That's the key difference: a collaborator is tied to one document, a member is tied to a whole folder.

Sharing a folder

Open the ... menu on a folder you own and choose Add members. When you're already inside one of your own folders, a members icon also shows up right in the header, in the same spot your account avatar normally sits.

Enter the email address of the person you want to add. If they already have a cDox account, they get access immediately. If not, they get an email invite and gain access as soon as they create one.

Note

Only top-level (root) folders can be shared — see Subfolders below. You can add up to 10 members and pending invites per folder.

What members can do

There are no permission levels for folder members: everyone has full read and write access, the same as collaborators on a page or sheet. A member can open, edit, rename, move within the folder, and delete anything inside it, including things they didn't create. Every item shows who created it, so that's always clear.

Nothing can be moved out of the folder except by its owner. The folder itself also stays with the owner: renaming or deleting it, and adding or removing members.

Subfolders

Only top-level (root) folders can be shared. A subfolder can't be shared separately from its parent folder.

When you share a folder, every subfolder inside it automatically inherits the same access for the same people, at any depth. There's nothing extra to do — no need to share each subfolder one by one, and there's currently no way to add different members to just one specific subfolder.

Removing members and leaving

The folder owner can remove a member or cancel a pending invite at any time, from the same panel used to add them.

If you're a member of a folder someone else shared, you can leave it yourself at any time. Folders shared with you show up in the Shared with Me section of the sidebar, alongside individually shared pages and sheets.
