Sharing a link
Send anyone a link so they can read a page or sheet.
Sharing a link
A public link lets anyone read your page or sheet. They can read it but can't change it, and they don't need a cDox account.
To share a link:
- Open the page or sheet.
- Click the Share button in the top-right corner. A panel opens, titled Publish.
- Turn on the Public switch.
- Click Copy next to the link that appears.
Then paste the link wherever you like: an email, a text message or a website. Whoever clicks it sees your document the way you see it, with its formatting and pictures.
On a small screen, Share is in the ⋮ menu in the top-right corner.
Want someone to edit the document with you? A link won't do that: invite them as a collaborator. To give someone a whole folder, use a shared folder instead.
Only the owner of a document can make it public. For a public page, the panel also shows Metrics: how many times it's been viewed and how far down people read, on average. Sheets don't have metrics.
Stopping a link
To make your document private again, open the same panel and turn off Public. The link stops working right away. Anyone who tries it after that sees an error page.
If you turn it back on later, it's the same link as before. People who already had it can use it again.
How many links you can have
With a free account, you can have up to 3 public links turned on at the same time, pages and sheets together. To share another one, turn one off.
Pro gives you unlimited public links, 500 MB of storage, image uploads and Pro fonts. $8/month or $70/year.
